Royal Flintlock Fowler by Chasteau
The royal Flintlock Fowler by Chasteau Maker to Luis the 15th showing his crest on the side plate is fitted with a finely made Spanish barrel by Nicholas Bis of Madrid, Spain who also was a royal gun maker and his barrels were legendary throughout Europe as being the best available. The gun is fully silver mounted and has leather cheek piece and butt plate circa about 1720 - 1740. This arm remains in very good to near fine original condition with some distress to the leather covering on the cheek piece. A rare opportunity to obtain a royal arm from a maker who was granted lodging at the Louve which was the ultimate in status for a royal maker. Priced fairly at $14,500.
