Royal Bodyguard Wheelock Carbine

$21,500.00

This fine Wheelock (carbine) is of the type identified by European museums as a number made for the royal bodyguards of Prince - Archbishop Wolf Dietrich Von Raitenau of Salzburg (Austria). The term petronel is derived from German language and the fact these handy carbines were fired from the breastbone instead of shoulder. This arm dates to the 1590's and remains in very good to near fine condition showing original inlays and expert restoration of finish on the barrel which is museum quality. All original lock parts are retained including springs and chain. Priced reasonably at $21,500.
