Samuel Atwater Raymond was the son of the cofounder of the New York Times. S.A. Raymond continued to run his father's business the Raymond Lowe company and he married Emma Stone in 1875 who was the niece of Amasa Stone the richest man in Cleavland, Ohio. S.A. Raymond administered the estate of Amasa Stone after his death.

The sword is richly mounted and of very high quality also remaining in fine to excellent overall condition. The carving on the grip is superb with a full figure portrait of Columbia. Price on request.
