Originial oil painting on board portraying camping scene signed lower left L. Farrington Elwell. Was mentored as a young man by Buffalo Bill who was impressed with his artistic abilities. Elwell for a time managed Buffalo Bills ranch in Whyoming and never lacked for a wide variation of subjects and majestics scenery from which he painted in real life. Later in his career he moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he worked as an illustrator for magazines and painted western subjects for galleries and collectors throughout the west. Image only 24 by 20 inches provenance Texas art gallery late 1980's James Fowler of period gallery Scottsdale, Arizona to Little John's Auction Service 1993. Was $2,400 now $1,480.
