Magnificently four color gold inlaid in floral pattern high relief scroll decorated stocking rifle circa about 1870 - 1880's made by Henri Rieger the successor to Leafaucheux of Paris. The caliber is approximately 10.5 to 11mm centerfire of medium to short length case. The condition is fine to near excellent with most of the original brown and toned case hardening on the frame with rainbow color showing where protected. The stock is a select burl grain from dark walnut.

The quantity of gold and superior workmanship we estimate at $75,000 plus to recreate at today’s custom engravers rates with only a few master engravers possessing the ability to execute a piece of this “Sultan’s quality”. Priced amazingly low at $17,500 with absolutely no discount available from our consigner who states “any less and I will keep it.” as he originally wanted $30,000.
