This 1849 Colt pocket shows deluxe period engraving and traces of original blue and case hardening. Mounted with fine original ivory grips and showing 4 inch barrel along with New York address and 6 shot cylinder. The backstrap is period inscribed “Presented to Cornelius Riley by VM. A. Whitehorne, San Francisco 1866" our information indicates that Cornelius Riley was the operator of the yacht bar in San Francisco harbor and Whitehorne was the representative for Schyuler, Hartley and Graham on the west coast. The case contains all original accessories and in very good plus to almost fine condition. This set was obtained nearly 40 years ago by a prominent Grass Valley, California gold rush collector from Mitch Luksitch who purchased it in a San Francisco estate. A very nice gold rush Colt that is rare with San Francisco inscription. $7250
