C.S. marked artillery style short sword with iron mounted wood scabbard. 25 inches overall with 19 ½ long by 2 inches wide blade. Star cast into pommel. Light to moderate pitting and erosion on the blade. Rust and pitting on iron mounted scabbard. I can neither authenticate nor reject this as a fake. It's has been in two major civil war collections over past 30 years and does have age. Frankly 3 experts all disagree as to age and authenticity and 2 wanted to buy it. As is. Sold without guarantee. Note: Fetched 2000 at auction in the 1990’s when Confederate arms were hot.
