This Colt shows Youngs best work with expertly accomplished floral scrolls, wolfs head on hammer, and other typical Young motifs. The backstrap is inscribed by Young at time of engraving with a name A. Guard. The Navy shows fine burl wood grip and is serial #79290 made about 1853 during the height of Youngs career as an engraver. The condition is very good with generous traces of original finish, sharp edges, good markings, and generally good overall. All matching and completely authentic. About 50-70% original cylinder scene remains.
