Colt 1849 Pocket Model Revolver
Colt 1849 pocket model percussion revolver with 6 inch barrel, two line New York address, 5 shot cylinder, in original case with accessories, serial #134946. This Colt remains in near fine original condition showing 75% to 85% original bright inky blue the barrel also the cylinder shows a like amount of blue remaining with all the cylinder scene just very slightly light. The frame, lever and hammer show 60% to 70% case hardening with some rainbow colors drifting to silver mostly on left side of frame. The grips are fine with slight edge wear and minor scratches but retain at least 90% plus original varnish. The straps show 80% to 90% darkened original darkened silver plate. The edges are crisp and the pistol is sharp and shows very little to no use.
The casing shows original dusty rose color velveteen lining with solid original partitions. The exterior of the case also near fine with minor light scratches and almost no aging. A Colt eagle flask with 30% to 50% darkened laquer finish remains, mold with 60% blue, original near fine skin cartridge pack, nipple wrench with 75% blue, two cap tins and one is marked for belt and pocket pistols, an extra broken nipple wrench. This particular set was found with a fine carved San Francisco holster by a prominent gun dealer Greg Martin in San Francisco in a pioneer family about a decade ago. The holster was recently separated and we purchased the set from an old time collector. Priced fairly at $4850 for the set.
