Rare Burnside sporting rifle bearing silver presentation plaque inlaid into deluxe burl wood buttstock. Burnside rifle works - Providence R.I stamped on lock. No breach markings or serial number visible. A 1 ½ by 2 inch silver shield is inlaid into buttstock with inscription removed long ago. The forend is nicely checkered and capped in pewter at both ends. Approximately 75 - 85% blue remains on barrel and 30 - 50% silvery case colors on the action. The metal surfaces are very good.
