American Belt Pistol similar to Derringers in style marked Tryon on the lock and PHIL ᴬ on the barrel. 8 inch overall with 4 1/8 inch barrel of approximately 40 caliber with 7 groove rifl ing. Gold and silver bands at the breach with iron guard and German silver mounts. Action works well and is sound. Metal shows a dark natural patina and is good with light to moderate pitting and erosion. Stocks show about half of the varnish and at least are good. Ramrod replaced. Tryon was an important American maker who contracted for “treaty rifl es” as well as numerous government contracts. Circa 1850 – 60’s.
