Indian Trade Gun With Serpentine Side Plate
Early 19th century conversion from flintlock to percussion. Full stock trade musket in approximately .60 caliber or 20 gauge smooth bore. No proofs or other identifiable markings. The lock is lightly engraved and the hammer is American construction and hand forged probably on the western frontier. The plain brass mounts are not engraved and are of light weight and simple construction including the serpentine side plate which is secured by two screws. Approximately 55 inches overall with 39 inch barrel and no ramrod is included. The condition is as found out of the attic with a dark brown patina. The action works but not perfectly and the condition overall is fair to good. Small areas of damaged and loss to the wood but at least good for its age. Priced very reasonably at $1,495.
