Hand Painted Porcelain Artwork of 19th Century Dragoons or Cavalry

Sale Price: $629.00 Original Price: $1,095.00

Medallion impressed into the back of a scene of a lady holding a lyre surrounded by armor and stands of arms with date August 1848 at the bottom. The porcelain shows two large figures of soldiers in fancy helmets. The left figure is British with small figures of other units in proper helmets of different branches of service and the right figure is French with 3 smaller figures also showing fancy helmets. The paint has been excellently restored in our opinion by a top artist or restorer. The porcelain is approximately 8 x 9 ½ inches the central figures stand over 2 inches in height away from the base. The frame measures 13 1/8th inch in height and 15 1/8th inches in width. Condition is fine as restored and frame also near fine with just minor aging. A terrific mid-19th century military artwork.
