Often called “The gun that won the west” this thumbprint dust cover first model is serial #25419 and shows a 24 inch octagon barrel in .44-40 caliber with full magazine and rifle butt. The condition is good to very good showing a light grey patina finish with good sharp edges and crisp markings. The rifle has been lightly cleaned overall and shows a good appearance. The action is good and tight working well with a good to very good bore. Correct dust cover and small parts. The loading gate shows most of its bright original blue. A 7.5 on a 1 - 10 grading scale and these early 73's are very desirable to collectors as they were used hard on the fronter.
